For business brokers

Source seller opportunities and match buyer mandates without a public listing site.

MergerMatch is free for brokers and advisors who want to source seller opportunities, help SME owners sell, or help acquirers find companies. Register your broker profile, client opportunity, or buyer mandate, then let private matching surface the right counterparties.

Business brokers and M&A advisors

Both belong here. Deal size helps match the right work.

The labels overlap and vary by market. MergerMatch initially focuses on the small-business and SME opportunities that business brokers handle every day, while also supporting M&A advisors working on larger SME or more complex mandates. Size matters, but so do geography, buyer type, transaction complexity, regulatory needs, and the level of execution support a client wants.

IntermediaryTypical fitHow they use MergerMatch
Business brokerOwner-led small businesses and SMEs where confidentiality, transfer planning, and practical buyer fit matter.Source owners, list client opportunities, register buyer mandates, and manage deal files.
M&A advisorLarger SMEs and more complex mandates involving institutional buyers, cross-border reach, or a wider process.Source mandates, represent sellers or buyers, build a wider buyer universe, and coordinate diligence.

There is no universal transaction-value line between the two roles. Matching uses stated deal-size coverage alongside industry, geography, and structure so the opportunity can reach an intermediary whose remit fits.

Private client introductions

Set your coverage once and wait for relevant clients.

Advisor profiles are not published. MergerMatch privately assigns seller or buyer requests when client side, industry, geography, and approximate deal size fit your stated coverage.

Choose the right workflow

Start with what you are trying to do for the client.

One intermediary may use several MergerMatch paths. Keep each client role separate so an owner opportunity, buyer mandate, and request for professional advice are matched on the right criteria.

Broker workflows

One network for the buy side and sell side of your desk.

  • Source new seller opportunities from SME owners who want broker help without posting publicly.
  • Represent a seller confidentially without posting a public business-for-sale listing.
  • Register buyer or acquirer mandates and receive anonymized opportunities that fit.
  • Keep both sides organized around geography, industry, deal size, and control or minority structure.

Private by default

Keep client control while expanding the buyer universe.

Owner opportunities are visible only to matched buyers and stay anonymized until a matched buyer signals interest. Professional profiles are then shared so the buyer can contact the seller directly. Brokers receive opportunities that match their geography, industry, deal-size, and structure focus, which keeps outreach focused and reduces wasted conversations.

Questions from intermediaries

Business broker and M&A advisor FAQs.

Is MergerMatch free for business brokers and M&A advisors?

Yes. Creating a broker profile, listing a seller opportunity, registering a buyer mandate, receiving matches, and connecting through matching do not carry MergerMatch listing, subscription, lead, matching, or success fees. Optional Rooms and sale-preparation tools may be paid separately.

Is MergerMatch only for small business brokers?

No. Small-business and SME broker workflows are an initial focus, while M&A advisors can use the same network for larger SME and more complex mandates. Matching considers deal size alongside geography, industry, and transaction structure.

Can a broker list a client business without publishing it publicly?

Yes. The client opportunity is represented by an anonymized listing and routed privately to buyers or brokers whose mandates fit. MergerMatch does not publish a browsable directory of named seller opportunities.

Can a broker register a buy-side mandate?

Yes. A broker or M&A advisor representing an acquirer can register the buyer mandate once and receive anonymized opportunities that match its stated criteria.

What is the difference between a broker profile and advisor coverage?

The broker sourcing path creates private advisor coverage for receiving owner or buyer client requests. Listing a seller opportunity and registering a buyer mandate are separate workflows. A public M&A Network profile is also separate and requires publication consent.
